Mbhasi or Pigeon Peas (Kenya)

One word for this dish... YUMMMM. You will absolutely love to eat these beans. The pigeon peas pair well with it's yummylicious coconut sauce. My family and I LOVE to eat this dish along with Mahamri (recipe for Mahamri in this link)! They pair so well with each other; they are a match made in heaven -.-. 

Ingredients:

1 can of pigeon peas
1 medium onion
2 table spoon oil
1/2 a t' spoon tamarind
1/2 cup coconut powder
1.4 cup water
Salt to taste



Steps:
1. Boil pigeon peas for 10 minutes then drain
2.heat oil in another pan then fry onion in oil until light brown
3. add tamarind powder, then add the pigeon peas
4. then add salt and 1/4 cup water then coconut powder mix together let boil until thick and creamy
optional: you can add green or hot pepper for spiciness
